its been twenty five years

since the powers that be

closed the asylums

and turned my hood

into an outdoor mental ward

big pharma said they had the cure

turn the lunatics loose

and we will medicate them to sanity

it didn’t work

and yes drugs changed them

but not the way any sane person would want

heroin, crack, crank,

are the GDP of the DTES

and the politicians dither

while the drug crazed lunatics whither

suffer and die

no matter what the weather

washed up on the mean streets

some from here

some from afar

the vision in my view

is quite

bizarre
