OBLVION IS THE ONLY SHELTER

 

 OBLIVION IS THE ONLY SHELTER

where is the refuge

when all the news is bad

do we have to run

to the bogus shelter

of a belief in imaginary

beings and the shelter

of a heaven that doesn’t exist

in our pain and fear

and suffering when

our faith in our secular gods

the doctors

 say

there is no hope

now go away and die

realizing for all their

white coat arrogance

they really don’t know anything

and their allegiance to the system

that pays them so well

really doesn’t allow them

to think out side the box of their expertise

we all must understand

that none of us is forever

and our end will find us

regardless

of our fickle desires

for that unknown

future

there are no miracles

time has no mercy

and dodging the bullet once or twice

is only the prelude

to that unknown future

death throes

or sudden accident

the train we are riding

in each of our individual journeys

has only one destination

and no matter how valiantly

we struggle to stay on

when its over its over and

oblivion is the only shelter
