SEARCHING THE FILES

SEARCHING THE FILES

for an old poem
but there was no way
I could find one to suit the day
friend Tony
of
IWVPA fame
says my daily dribble of drivel
was his muse yesterday
these current ones
 are the spaces occupied
by my words and song
until a real poem comes along
I still use the Oxford dictionary
because the Microsoft spell checker
is kind of like a limp pecker
or a tone deaf canary
its bill paying day today
and a see how far I can stretch my pension
this month
housing charges, internet, phone, hydro, cable,
groceries, mailing charges,
and WAM  for my daily coffee

friends to see today
at
Word on the street
at the library
some reading and flogging
their books
I must resist their blandishments
before my collection
forces me into the street
haircut today
weather predicts a drizzle
but I can’t let my dreams for the day fizzle
I actually enjoyed
with many smiles
reading some of the oldies
while
searching the files.
