WHAT
PROPORTIONAL ELECTIONS SHOULD LOOK LIKE

Dreamed
last night about a proportional election the next time we have a
Federal Election.
Everyone
eligible to vote (personally I would make voting mandatory) would
have two votes a first choice and a second choice. The first
candidate to achieve 50% plus one of 1st and 2end choices
would be the winning candidate.
The
ballot would be in alphabetical order with the candidate's name and
party with a box opposite the name where the voter would mark a 1 or
a 2 or no mark at all depending on the voter's choice. Any other
markings would void the ballot.
I
know the MSM will insist that this is far too complicated because
they have in the past been able to have a dictator of their choice
running the country for the next four years with the first past the
past post where the winning party only has to get 35% of the total
votes but 100% of the power.
I
would also restrict the number of obviously mis leading polls the MSM
are permitted to run to a complete ban two weeks prior to the
election.
Ex
pat Canadians still holding valid Canadian passports could vote in
the riding where they had lived in Canada prior to their departure by
absentee ballot.
Voter
ID would be valid passport plus provincial Id with picture and
address and confirmation that you are in fact registered at the
polling station close to where you live.
Strange
dreams but I actually visualized he ballots.
