Thoughts
on a day six months and three days from my 80th birthday.
10/12/2015,
04:41 hrs., PST, Thursday, my place, 8°C
raining and windy, MOOD 60/40
Woke
up after seven hours of good sleep, my back ache has dissipated
eliminating the excuse not to get the chores done.
Thinking
about the Tuesday night supper that cousin Diane organized and what a
wonderful bunch my Mom's generation brought into the world. The story
so far is unending and even as this bunch crosses the river of time
our children and grand children will carry on with their own
achievements. Some already have, there, are of course, some
disappointments but we have to accept the rough with the smooth.
We
are a lucky bunch living in the greatest country in the world and
able even, with a democracy that is a work in progress, just having
survived the attempt to turn the country into a quasi petrol state
and a corporate fascist dictatorship.
The
opinion around the table was relief that Herr Harper had ended up in
the trashcan of history. I would estimate that all the people at the
dinner were on the Progressive (left) side of the political spectrum
.
It
is unlikely that all the cousins and their husbands and wives will
ever all be in the same room again. We still have to track down Bob
Stewart, which is hard because no one has seen him or heard from him
since the early eighties.
When
you are in a family like this, whats not to like?
