GRANVILLE
STREET PROJECT
JOURNAL
ENTRY, 01,01,2016, 06:15 hrs/. PST. Friday, my place, -5°C
clear and cold, Mood 60/40
This
is my sixteenth year of photographing Granville Street from the
bridge to Georgia Street. That area was my hood from 1996-2006 when I
moved to Gastown.
I
always tried to start as soon as it was sunrise and worked it
starting at the bridge and photographing both sides of the street all
the way to Georgia. Most years it was clear or merely cloudy but one
year I could not get out into the storm for three days because it was
blowing and raining so hard the rain drops bounced.
I
started out using my film Nikon F3 with 24mm f2,8 and my 300 mm ED IS
and shot with Fuji hi speed black and white 1600 ASA film which I had
developed and medium scanned to DVD disk so I could use whatever
computer I had to put the results up on the internet in my blog.
I
will be shooting this with large jpegs and Raw so I et two images
for each shot and can convert one to black and white. I will using
two lenses. My Tamron 18-240 and Ian's 11-16 Tokina.
Have
4sd and made my first coffee, will catch the 7:30 bus and arrive at
Granville and Georgia at sunrise which is at 08:03 hrs. and
start shooting before there is any traffic. Should be home and dry
by 10 and have results up by 13:00 hrs..
