IN
THE BEGINNING
There
was coffee
when
awakening
on dream day
that only I
can see
In
my gaunch
face
itching begging for a shave
a
routine to which
I
have become a slave
3/4s
through a book
that
will change my life
a
bible I fear if we are to save
the
world for ourselves
to
save ourselves
in
the cacophony of lies
from
those who will profit
if
things stay as they are
and
if things stay as they are
when
the catastrophe ultimately strikes
it
would be interesting to see
if
they could survive by eating their money
I
will fly no more
but
the plane will still take off
serving the traveling horde spewing
CO2
even
though I'm not on board
in
our petty consumerist society
the
world of colorful shopping bags
and
hipster clothes and tattoos
they
let their dogs shit in the street
they
never pick up
and
cast their rancid cigarette butts
that addicted tramps scramble to retrieve
sorting the
garbage that they leave
and
when the catastrophe strikes
when
we count the dead
are
they really innocent
or
just collateral damage instead
be
careful what you wish for
the
wise man said
just
thank the fates
you
didn't wake up dead

I shave and shower
