A WINTER OF LAUNDRY
A SHORT STORY
Stop watch set to time the wash cycle in the second night of four loads of laundry with eight more loads to go to end my winter of laundry.. The lazy gene kicked in as it always does when I'm depressed.Perhaps the solution is to not have so many clothes I really should take the excess to the Sally An and at least partially empty my over crowned closets.
15 minutes to go with many typos I'm never at my best at this time in the morning so will pause here..
Checking the wash cycle and note that I didn't start one of the machines, I'm not the brightest spark at this time in the morning.
Three loads in the dryers and one to go. With sorting and folding and putting away should be able to put my had down at 3 am.
The fact is if I had merely laid in my bed I wouldn't have gone to sleep but right now I'm dozing at my keyboard, go figure.
Drifting off with Bob Marley there are not any better way to cross the creek of wake and start to inhabit the world of dreams.
Perhaps an early coffee will keep me from wading in but then again maybe not. Greek music wells up into my headphones and i take my sweater off to fight off the night sweats that affects us oldsters, hot flashes for old guys.
The last load of washing is in the dryer so in an hour I can collect all and start the odious duty of folding and putting away. Four loads are not as boring as six but only barely. Ha Ha
L. Cohen with “Alexandra Leaving' on the head phones and I'm awash in the tide of wonderful poetry followed by Roy Orbison and sipping the coffee I promised myself a couple of paragraphs ago. Lost my copy of L. Cohen picture when the MAC crashed will have to download another.
Mean while should take out the trash of packaging from my excursion to Costco. Had to turn on my table fan the night sweats have hit me big time, my hormones are out of control it seems.
Discovered that I hadn't turned on one of the driers so its added another hour of waiting for the clothes to dry so it will be a six o'clock morning for these four loads and in their rightful place.
Sigh
